With this declaration, Saskatchewan joins numerous other Canadian provinces, territories, cities, and leaders already commemorating three decades since the Srebrenica genocide.

“Our government firmly condemns all forms of violence and genocide, as well as war crimes and crimes against humanity in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world. We are grateful to the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada for its continued efforts in preserving and promoting the culture of remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide in Canada,” said Premier Moe.

Canada’s Parliament adopted a resolution in 2010 designating July 11 as Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day and honouring the victims of the atrocity.
