Milan Tegeltija, the Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Council of Ministers, said on Tuesday the country will receive the first doses of Covid-19 vaccines through the COVAX system the next week already, adding that the total of 100,000 AstraZeneca vaccines should be delivered by May 1.

Bosnia will also receive a certain amount of Pfizer vaccines through the COVAX system, according to him.

Also, Tegeltija said, he is expecting the first doses from the European Union's joint procurement system.

“We got a confirmation today, which we should take with a reserve, that the first deliveries from the EU's joint procurement system will arrive by end of April as well,” he added.

Tegeltija said it was encouraging to hear the information about Turkey donating 30,000 vaccines to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was announced today during the meeting of BiH Presidency members with the Turkish President in Ankara.

Meanwhile, Bosnia's Federation region, which started the inoculation of its health workers with AstraZeneca vaccines that Serbia donated recently, will halt the process until the European Medicines Agency (EMA) investigates the reported incidents following the use of the vaccines of this producer.

European countries including Austria, Italy, Germany, Denmark, etc. reported side effects after the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, temporarily terminating its use.
