European Council President Charles Michel has postponed a visit to Montenegro, the Podgorica Vijesti newspaper said on Sunday.
According to unofficial information from the top of Montenegrin authorities, the reason for the postponement is the Montenegrin parliament's adoption of a resolution on genocide in the Jasenovac, Dachau, and Mauthausen WWII concentration camps.
Vijesti recalled that Michel was scheduled to visit Montenegro on 2 and 3 July at the invitation of President Jakov Milatovic. Michel was expected to meet with Milatović and address the Montenegrin parliament.
At the initiative of the pro-Serbian and pro-Russian right wing, the Montenegrin parliament on Friday adopted a resolution on the genocide in the Jasenovac, Dachau, and Mauthausen camps. It was supported by 41 ruling majority MPs, while the opposition and some of the ruling MPs walked out of the chamber, so nearly half of the total 81 MPs did not participate in the vote.
