China on Monday banned imports of pigs and wild boars directly or indirectly from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina due to African swine fever, according to Reuters news agency.
All pigs and wild boars entering China will be returned or destroyed, according to two announcements by the Chinese Customs Administration.
ASF has been confirmed at 35 farms in Croatia and one case has been detected among wild boars, the Croatian Agriculture Ministry said late last week.
The ministry said it had tightened the prevention of illegal trade to curb the spread of infection, and that emergency aid had been ensured for breeders in the affected areas.
ASF was reported in Bosnia and Herzegovina late in June.
