City Council announces recipients of prestigious Sarajevo awards and recognitions

Honorary Citizens of Sarajevo

The title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Sarajevo" will be awarded to Philippe Douste-Blazy and Eric Hauck.

• Philippe Douste-Blazy, a French cardiologist, politician, and diplomat, is recognized for his exceptional contribution to the citizens of Sarajevo during the 1992 siege. As a member of the humanitarian mission EquiLibre, he visited besieged Sarajevo eleven times and has provided continuous international support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
• Eric Hauck, a German journalist, arrived in the besieged city in 1992 as a diplomatic correspondent for the Catalan newspaper AVUI. He has dedicated his life and career to building friendship and cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Catalonia.

"Plaque of the City of Sarajevo" recipients

The Council passed the decision to award the "Plaque of the City of Sarajevo" to Dr. Claudia Zini and Bosnian journalist Arijana Saracevic Helac.

• Claudia Zini is an Italian art historian focused on the role of contemporary art in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is the founder of Kuma International – Center for Visual Arts from Post-Conflict Societies.
• Arijana Saracevic Helac is a prominent journalist, editor, and author of documentary films. During the siege, she served as a war reporter, providing daily reports from the front lines.

Youth achievements and future ceremony

The "Sarajevo Snowflake" award will be presented to Omar Halilovic, a young pianist who has achieved enviable results on the international music scene.

These awards and recognitions will be officially presented during a formal session of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo.
