City of Sarajevo posthumously rewards Italian journalist Alexander Langer
Italian journalist and peace activist Alexander Langer was posthumously named the honorary citizen of Sarajevo, for promoting peace and reconciliation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the Embassy of Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the City Council rewarded Langer ahead of the Day of the City of Sarajevo that is marked on April 6, when the recognitions are officially announced.
The decision was passed at the proposal of the 'Education builds BiH' association, founded by retired Bosnian general Jovan Divjak, and it comes in the week when Langer would mark his 75th birthday.
The journalist died on July 3, 1995.
