The Civil Protection Unit of Stari Grad municipality is maintaining 24-hour monitoring of landslide-prone areas, including Curine Njive and Bistricki Potok, to provide early warnings and ensure the safety of residents. Inspections reveal deep cracks in the ground and sporadic water runoff at Curine Njive, posing a potential threat to stability. While no new water flows were observed in the area, existing underground water sources weaken the soil's resistance, increasing the risk of landslides.
At Bistricki Potok, debris and fallen trees partially block the streambed. Recent snowfalls have hampered efforts to assess the stream's condition. No new material collapses were reported, but previous obstructions remain in place.
In response to the situation, the Sarajevo Canton Civil Protection Headquarters ordered the evacuation of residents from vulnerable zones in Stari Grad. Municipal authorities have been regularly inspecting affected streets, including Bostarici and Ablakovina, and are finalizing arrangements for alternative housing.
Efforts to stabilize the situation include installing protective barriers at critical locations to prevent further dumping of soil and debris. Neighbouring municipalities have provided technical support as part of an ongoing collaboration to address the risks and assist displaced residents.
