Clinical testing of the first Bosnia-made ventilator will start soon at the Tuzla Clinical Centre under the supervision of medical experts, professor Sefik Hasukic told N1.
Last year, amidst the pandemic, TMD Group based in Gradacac, Bosnia's northeast, designed and produced a ventilator prototype, which underwent detailed testing at the UK-based Medical Devices Testing and Evaluation Centre (MD-TEC).
Hasukic, who represents the Scientific-research sector at the Tuzla Clinical Centre, said that the clinical study of the ventilator and its prototyping required validation, which was done by the Institute of Translational Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham), with excellent results.
“We must say that the TMD Group from Gradacac which made this ventilator during the pandemic is praiseworthy. They used their brains and technology to make a prototype ventilator which passed the validation,” he said, adding that if the product proves to be of good quality in the clinical testing phase, it will be a great success for the country and production of locally made medical devices.
According to him, this device might be in use within a two-year period.
