Miners from seven mines that are part of the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH (EP BiH) Group have gathered in Sarajevo and headed towards the Federation (FBiH) entity Government building where they announced a peaceful protest rally, on Wednesday, from 11 am to 2 pm.
The protest is organized following the conclusion of the FBiH Association of Independent Trade Unions of Miners, who failed to reach an agreement, on Tuesday, on the payment of wages for the miners of the Zenica Brown Coal Mine, who were not even paid hot meals for January and February this year.
“Yesterday, the Trade Union had another meeting with the competent Minister, Vedran Lakic, and the management of PE EP BiH, but they failed to reach any agreement. They offer the option of paying those salaries in some 20 days, but our Union did not agree to that proposal. They decided to organize a protest. We will see what will be the result of this, but the basic request is the payment of salaries and hot meals for January and February,” said Senid Dizdarevic, a member of the Trade Union of the “Raspotocje” plant.
