At the conclusion of her three-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Commissioner Kos addressed members of both houses of the state Parliament, urging them to meet the requirements in order to avoid jeopardising access to Growth Plan funds and to enable the opening of EU accession negotiations by the end of the year.

"If a list of reforms is not submitted by the end of September, Bosnia and Herzegovina will lose an additional €100 million from the European Growth Plan," this Slovenian politician warned during her address.

The European Commission recently withheld €100 million from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is now signalling further cuts.

The leader of the largest Serb party in BiH, Milorad Dodik, on Tuesday expressed doubt that the country will adopt the necessary list of reforms required to meet the conditions of the Growth Plan, without which Bosnia and Herzegovina risks losing the funds approved by the European Union.

Dodik’s SNSD party and the leading Bosniak SDA party, led by Bakir Izetbegović, have for months been obstructing the fulfilment of commitments that would allow Bosnia and Herzegovina access to the EU fund intended for Western Balkan countries.

If the list of reforms is not submitted by the end of September, the €100 million will be reallocated to other countries in the region.
