
The consumer price index (CPI) in Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 3.7 percent in May 2025 compared to May 2024, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages saw the largest increase, rising by an average of 9.9 percent. Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 4.0 percent, while housing and utility costs edged up by 0.2 percent. Furniture, household appliances, and regular home maintenance rose by 0.6 percent, and healthcare costs went up by 6.4 percent.
Other categories with price increases included communications (0.4%), recreation and culture (4.4%), education (0.8%), restaurants and hotels (6.2%), and other goods and services (3.0%).
Conversely, average price declines were recorded in clothing and footwear, which fell by 8.2 percent, and transportation, which decreased by 6.4 percent.
Monthly, prices in May 2025 rose by an average of 0.2 percent compared to April 2025.
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 0.9 percent month-on-month, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0.2 percent, furniture and household appliances by 1.1 percent, healthcare by 0.4 percent, recreation and culture by 1.1 percent, education by 0.2 percent, restaurants and hotels by 0.9 percent, and other goods and services by 0.5 percent.
Meanwhile, prices for clothing and footwear decreased slightly by 0.1 percent, housing and utility costs dropped by 0.9 percent, and transportation prices declined by 1.9 percent compared to the previous month.
