Could Sarajevo's Sebilj become an official LEGO set? Bosnian student's project makes it to LEGO Ideas

Emrah Busatlic, a student at Bugojno High School, announced on social media that the project was the result of extensive work, designing and building. He also called on people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian diaspora to support his idea.

"After a lot of hard work, designing and building, my authentic model of Sarajevo's Sebilj has officially been approved and published on the LEGO Ideas platform," Bušatlić wrote.

The goal is 10,000 supporters

LEGO Ideas is a platform where creators can submit their own models and concepts. Projects that receive enough support can enter LEGO's official review process.

Busatlic says his project needs 10,000 supporters before it can be reviewed by the LEGO team in Denmark for possible production.

"This is an opportunity for a symbol of Bosnia and Herzegovina to become an official LEGO set for the first time in history and be sold in stores around the world," Busatlic said.

Support can be given through the LEGO Ideas platform by clicking the "SUPPORT" option. Users then need to sign in to an existing LEGO account or create one for free.

"Every vote, every story share and every tagged friend brings us closer to this goal. Let's bring Sebilj to LEGO shelves together," he said.

According to local news portal Bug.ba, the project attracted interest from LEGO Ideas users within the first few hours after it was published and received its first dozens of supporters.

A symbol of Sarajevo in LEGO form

The Sebilj fountain in Bascarsija, Sarajevo's historic old town, is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. BUsatlic has recreated it as a LEGO model and is now seeking support from the wider community.

Reaching the required 10,000 supporters would not automatically mean that the model will go into production. Instead, it would qualify the project for LEGO's review process, during which the company would consider whether it could become an official set.

Busatlic has called on people from Sarajevo and Bugojno, as well as supporters across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora, to back the project and help it reach the 10,000-supporter milestone.
