Attorney Elmir Jahic, legal counsel for the convicted Novalic, had filed a request with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina seeking a retrial in the criminal case. The motion cited “the emergence of new facts and evidence, as well as confirmed violations of the human rights of the convicted and other participants in the proceedings,” which, according to Jahic, directly impact the legality of the verdict issued against Novalic.

Jahic described the situation as a “collapse of legal certainty,” criticising the handling of the case as careless. He further pointed out that the court’s decision had been delivered to lawyer Vasvija Vidovic instead of him, the signatory of the request.

Jahic told the RTV FBiH portal that an appeal against the ruling will be submitted within the legally prescribed three-day deadline.
