The leader of the Croat Democratic Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH), Dragan Covic, said the latest moves by the leadership of the country’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity “deviate from the Constitution of BiH”.

A coordination meeting was held in Citluk, bringing together mayors, city leaders, and presidents of cantonal governments elected from the HDZ BiH party. The meeting was also attended by ministers, deputy prime ministers in the Government of Croatia, and the state secretary of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad. After the meeting, they addressed the public.
According to Covic, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Kristo, presented an analysis of the current political situation in BiH at the meeting, describing it as challenging but emphasizing that Bosnian Croat political leaders will work to ensure peace, stability, the European path, and equality.

"I believe that the activities initiated in RS significantly deviate from the Constitution of BiH. Everything must be within the framework of the BiH Constitution. The institutions of BiH must be respected, no matter how imperfect they may be”, Covic said.

“The individuals working there may not be the best, but we must acknowledge and respect them, whether it is the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH or the Court of BiH. Bosnia and Herzegovina must not experience any form of anarchy, and those who want to build this concept of BiH are the partners of HDZ BiH," he added.

When asked by journalists to comment on claims that he is "supporting” the president of the RS entity, Milorad Dodik, Covic responded: "We support every individual, every resident of BiH, and every representative of the Croat people in BiH and the homeland of BiH".

He also addressed the European laws that need to be adopted.

"I believe that through this process, we will agree on all the necessary partnerships that will soon ensure the normal functioning of the executive and legislative branches," Covic said.

He then clarified who these partners are.

"As I have said before, internal peace and stability, social and economic security are crucial. There must be no insecurity in BiH. We are making the maximum contribution with our partners in this regard. Our Euro-Atlantic path is clear, and we must complete these tasks. Third, the internal relations in BiH, the Constitution, equality, and the constitutional status of the peoples—this is what we are working on. Whoever understands this will be a partner to HDZ, both in five days and over the next year and a half until the next general elections," Covic stated.
