The President of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), Dragan Covic, held a working meeting on Thursday in Mostar with Luigi Soreca, the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Head of the EU Delegation.
The discussion centred on the current political landscape in the country, highlighting the necessity of maintaining stable political dialogue and identifying critical steps on the country’s path towards European integration.
Particular emphasis was placed on expediting reform processes before next Monday’s meeting of political party representatives in Mostar. The aim, as stated by HDZ BiH, is to achieve significant progress in advancing Bosnia towards EU membership by the end of the year, avoiding further delays.
Dragan Covic reaffirmed HDZ BiH’s unwavering commitment to BiH’s European trajectory. He underscored the importance of implementing reforms to ensure long-term stability and progress for all citizens. Covic reiterated HDZ BiH’s alleged leadership role in meeting the necessary criteria for EU integration and emphasized the need to revisit discussions on BiH’s Election Law. Resolving this issue, he noted, is essential to safeguarding both individual rights and the constitutional rights of the three constituent peoples.
Luigi Soreca stressed the urgency of taking concrete and decisive steps to seize the opportunities currently available to Bosnia. He highlighted the importance of completing preparations for the opening of EU membership negotiations and adopting a comprehensive program for alignment with EU legislation.
Both leaders expressed their shared commitment to continued cooperation and coordinated efforts. They reaffirmed their mutual dedication to enabling Bosnia to achieve tangible progress in the EU integration process as soon as possible.
