Croatia registers over 3,000 coronavirus cases

Croatia has registered 3,162 new coronavirus cases and 23 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team said on Wednesday.

The number of new infections confirmed in the last 24 hours was more than 50 percent higher than last Wednesday, when 2,022 new cases were reported, while two weeks ago 1,925 cases were confirmed. The last time more than 3,000 cases were registered in a single day was April.

The share of positive cases in 10,691 tests done in the last 24 hours was nearly 30 percent.

Currently, there are 11,995 active cases in the country. Among them are 939 infected persons receiving hospital treatment, of whom 131 are placed on ventilators. 21,296 people are self-isolating.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 433,136 people have been registered as having contracted the novel virus, of whom 8,951 have died and 412,190 have recovered, including 1,038 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 2,993,720 people have been tested to date, including 10,691 in the last 24 hours.

By Tuesday, 3,530,290 doses of vaccines had been administered, with 46.20 percent of the total population, or 55.38 percent of adults, having been vaccinated. 1,875,073 persons have received at least one dose and 1,760,158 of them have been fully inoculated, which makes up 52.08% of the adult population.
