Connecting BiH businesses and institutions with Azerbaijani ones will lead to economic benefits on both sides, said the BiH Presidency Chair Zeljka Cvijanovic on Thursday after meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and signing the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Cvijanovic clarified that this Declaration will enable the two countries to have better political understanding and consultations, as well as better economic cooperation.
“Connecting our business and institutions we’ll achieve better economic benefits, and strengthen security cooperation, which is the interest of the whole world today. I’m happy that Azerbaijan opened an embassy in BiH and that the decision was made to open a BiH embassy in Baku, and I am sure that we’ll see the benefits of establishing cooperation in this way in the coming period,” Cvijanovic said.
She and Aliyev’s country have proven that in the previous period, which is why the BiH authorities decided to open a new, more efficient and better chapter in relations between the two countries after certain interventions.
“In this way, we want to send a message of friendship and show that in the future we’ll act as friends to each other, that we will support each other in the international arena, and bring bilateral relations to the highest level,” Cvijanovic concluded.
“We have good historical cooperation. We have established good political consultations, we had numerous meetings over the years that have increased our cooperation. We support each other and that’s visible even today. Of course, when I talk about the issues of territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of Azerbaijan during the Armenian occupation, the position of your country was of crucial importance to us. Two and a half years ago, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity. BiH stepped forward with a clear position and supported our efforts. I want to thank your country for the position of friendship and brotherhood towards us,” Aliyev said.
He also pointed out that Azerbaijan fully supports BiH and its interests, as well as its territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders. He stated that with today's Declaration on Strategic Partnership, they identified ways of cooperation and pointed out that they are interested in economic cooperation. For this reason, he stated, a joint economic commission of the two countries will be formed, as well as an ad hoc group that will take concrete measures and steps for economic projects.
“I am confident that we’ll continue to move forward as true strategic partners,” he added.
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the BiH Presidency building he met with all three members after which he signed the Declaration on the Strategic Partnership with the Chair Zeljka Cvijanovic. Aliyev is heading an official delegation of over a hundred entrepreneurs interested in achieving business cooperation with their Bosnian counterparts.
