The Cyrillic inscription now once again stands next to the inscription in Latin script on the Bistrik Railway Station in Sarajevo, a National Monument of Bosnia which is currently being restored to its original condition.
Locals had noticed that the name ‘Bistrik’ was written only in Latin characters, without the same word in Cyrillic script which was originally on the building.
Sarajevo’s Mayor, Benjamina Karic, explained that inscriptions in both Latin and Cyrillic characters are planned as part of the reconstruction and adaptation of the landmark station.
The renovation of the Bistrik station began last October during the mandate of former Mayor Abdulah Skaka, who said the city plans to return the authentic appearance of this building so it opens its doors to visitors and presents its rich cultural and historical value.
