The House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in an emergency session, appointed MP Darko Babalj from Serb Democratic Party (SDS) as a member of the Board representing the Serb people.
Out of 32 MPs present, 19 voted in favour, three opposed, and 10 abstained.
The emergency session was convened at the request of MPs Darko Babalj, Branislav Borenovic, Nenad Grkovic, Mira Pekic, and Mladen Bosic, with a single agenda item—the election of the speaker, first deputy speaker, or second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, specifically a Board member from the Serb people.
Babalj replaces Nebojsa Radmanovic from the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), who was dismissed from the Collegium on January 23. The request for Radmanovic's dismissal was submitted by the caucuses of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH), Our Party, and People and Justice Party—parties within the Troika coalition.
The proposal cited SNSD’s political actions as an obstruction to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU integration, which remains the country’s primary foreign policy objective.
House Speaker Denis Zvizdic congratulated Babalj on his appointment, wishing him success in his new role and announcing that a Board session would be scheduled soon.
