The country’s Central Election Commission (CEC) appealed to citizens not to leave the registration process for the final moments and to thoroughly check the completeness of the submitted documentation. Data so far shows that thousands of requests from the diaspora have already arrived at the CEC, with applications from Germany, Austria, Croatia, Sweden, and Switzerland leading the way.
The obligation to submit an application applies to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who live or temporarily reside outside their homeland. Electronic registration must also be completed by citizens who were not previously entered into the extract from the Central Voters Register for voting abroad, as reported by BHRT.
The CEC suggests that voters regularly monitor the status of their application through the official website of the Commission after sending the request, so that in case of need, they can supplement the documentation on time before the complete closure of the system.
After the expiration of the deadline, the CEC of Bosnia and Herzegovina will proceed to process and verify all received applications, after which the final number of registered voters outside the country will be presented to the public. All approved voters will subsequently be sent voting materials or detailed instructions for voting in diplomatic and consular representations, depending on the option they chose during registration.
Otherwise, the Bosnia and Herzegovina diaspora includes hundreds of thousands of citizens with the right to vote, and their participation in this electoral cycle could once again play a crucial role in defining the final election results, which is why the CEC repeatedly emphasizes the importance of utilizing the remaining time until the end of the day.
