Denmark joins EUFOR mission in Bosnia as 25th contributing nation

With a ceremonial flag-raising at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo, Denmark was officially welcomed today as the 25th contributing country to the EUFOR (European Union Force) mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ceremony was attended by EUFOR Commander Major General Florin Barbu, Danish Ambassador to BiH Age Sandal Moller, and EUFOR personnel.
The Multinational Battalion (MNBN) is EUFOR’s manoeuvre military unit operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Based at Camp Butmir, it includes troops from Austria, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, North Macedonia, and Turkey. The current commander of the battalion is Colonel Vasile Ardelean.

The MNBN is structured to allow a flexible response to various operational situations and is regularly involved in training and exercises with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH).

Should the security situation demand it, EUFOR can be reinforced by reserve forces from EU and NATO member states, a scenario practised annually during the "Quick Response" exercise series.
Denmark’s addition underscores the continued international commitment to stability, peace, and cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
