Dense fog and smoke hinder assessment of Cvrsnica wildfire

According to the Operations Centre of the Civil Protection Administration of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (OCCZ HNC), firefighters from Jablanica have faced yet another exhausting battle against the blaze.

Members of the Jablanica Professional Firefighting Unit (PVJ) and Volunteer Firefighting Association (DVD) battled the fire yesterday at a site above the ski slope, at an altitude of 1,850 metres.

After a full day of efforts by ground crews, the fire was still active last night, while stronger winds have continued to make efforts to contain it more difficult.

The fire is burning in extremely difficult terrain that is completely inaccessible to firefighters in most areas.

Given these extreme conditions and the constant risk of the fire spreading, the Operations Centre stressed that aerial support will continue to be needed to fully contain the fire.
