Bosnia’s Council of Ministers adopted the Proposal of the International Agreement between BiH and the European Union (EU), during Monday extraordinary telephone session, on the country’s participation in Horizon Europe - Framework Program for research and innovation.

The proposal of the previously agreed agreement will be submitted to the country’s tripartite Presidency for further procedure provided by law, and the Minister of Civil Affairs has been proposed as a signatory.

In this way, the Council of Ministers (as Bosnia’s government of called officially) confirms the continuity of participation in the EU program for research and innovation since 2009 and creates conditions for the implementation of this agreement by which the EU enabled scientific research organizations from BiH to participate in the Horizon Europe since its inception, January 1, 2021, harnessing their research and innovation potential.
For the participation in this program, Bosnia and Herzegovina has secured the payment of an entrance fee, which in 2021, according to EU estimates, will amount to €1,545,120.00 euros, with part of it being financed from the IPA fund.

The Horizon Europe is a seven-year program, the successor to Horizon 2020, in which Bosnia participated as an associated country during the program period from 2014 to 2020.
