The minor who committed the murder of one police officer and severely injured another at the Police Station in Bosanska Krupa was ordered to detention at a hearing in the Municipal Court of Bosanska Krupa on Saturday, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Bihac confirmed.
The detention, ordered at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Una-Sana Canton, will last 30 days, during which investigative actions, including expert analyses, will be conducted to gather all relevant facts needed to clarify this crime.
The attack occurred on the night of October 24, when the minor, armed with a knife, entered the Bosanska Krupa Police Station and assaulted two on-duty police officers, Ozren Maran and Avdo Hasanovic. Maran sustained fatal injuries, while Hasanovic was severely injured.
This event has shocked residents and sparked public outrage.
After an intensive search, on the night of October 25, members of the Special Support Unit (JSP) and investigators from the Ministry of Interior of the Una-Sana Canton, with support from the Federal Police Administration (FUP) and the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), arrested another seven individuals connected to the incident.
The attack on the Bosanska Krupa Police Station has been classified as an act of terrorism, and the investigation is now under the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Over the next month, a thorough examination and evidence collection will be conducted to determine the precise motives and circumstances leading to this attack.
