If authorities in BiH would have procured vaccines earlier and started the mass vaccination campaign in January or February, the vaccination rate in the country would be a lot higher as now “there is a lot more vaccines than interest” in the country, renowned BiH infectologist, Bakir Nakas, told N1.

Nakas commented on the increase of the coronavirus infections in BiH, as well as the relatively small percentage of vaccinated citizens, despite the fact that the country now has enough vaccines for mass immunisation.

"Today you have a lot more vaccines than there is interest. It is evident that in the period January, February, March and April, we missed the change of the mass interest of citizens,” he said, adding that people used to be turned away from the vaccination points since they did not belong to a particular age group.

“We would certainly have had that process close to 50 percent, and we don’t have even 20 percent today,” Nakas said.
