The President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, condemned the decision by the High Representative of the international community in the country who prohibited the implementation of a set of controversial conclusions adopted by the RS National Assembly.
The conclusions, which RS lawmakers adopted at the end of 2024, sought to block decision-making at the state level due to an ongoing trial against Dodik before the state court who is accused of defying decisions by the High Representative Christian Schmidt, who is tasked with overseeing the civilian implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement.
“Schmidt has banned thinking—the function that distinguishes humans from other living beings. Schmidt has decided to return people in BiH and even in the EU to the Stone Age. It won’t work. Schmidt can no longer ban anything in BiH. Interestingly, the EU remains silent”, Dodik posted on X.
The Office of the High Representative published its latest decision on Thursday evening, saying that the RS Conclusions “violate Republika Srpska’s obligations and commitments under Annex 4 and Annex 10 to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
“The main message of the Order is: No one is above the law and nobody can misuse the law. This Order does not preclude any actions by the responsible institutions of Bosnia-Herzegovina, who may act accordingly based on their assessment”, the OHR said.
