The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, stated that the "Day of Republika Srpska”, a holiday which the BiH Constitutional Court ruled was unconstitutional, was “celebrated with dignity” on January 9 and that it was a clear message that “no one will determine what Republika Srpska can and cannot celebrate".
“We will never give up celebrating January 9, the Day of Republika Srpska. We marked it with dignity this year as well. I am grateful to all the friends who were with us. We also sent a clear message that no one else, neither Muslims nor foreigners, will determine what we can and cannot celebrate. If we agreed to that, we would renounce ourselves and Republika Srpska”, wrote Dodik on “Instagram”.
The celebration on January 9 this year caused numerous reactions, especially considering that the High Representative of the international community in the country, Christian Schmidt, said last year that it would not take place any more.
The state Constitutional Court ruled twice that the celebration of this date is unconstitutional.
