Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity will adopt its Election Law by April 20, said RS President Milorad Dodik, despite the fact that entities do not have the authority to conduct elections and that the BiH Constitution does not mention elections in either of the entities.
In his speech at the RS Police Day celebration in Zaluzani near Banja Luka, Dodik said “Republika Srpska has the right to its own law.”
“That Law will be adopted no later than the 20th of this month and it will enter into force and our authorities will implement it,” Dodik said clearly, referring to the Central Election Commission of BiH: “The CEC BiH has nothing to do with this. We will conduct elections according to our Law.”
Dodik once again presented his interpretation of the Law on the CEC BiH, saying that Article 1b states that the CEC only conducts elections for the Presidency and the Parliamentary Assembly “and nothing more.”
“And for the others, it determines the principles of the election,” he said.
The Draft RS Election Law was approved in the RS parliament on the night of March 28, this year.
