Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, told European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi that the Bosnian institutions at all levels are working to resolve issues that are a direct condition for the country's EU candidate status.

In a phone conversation with the EU official, Dodik thanked for the understanding for the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing that the activities to meet the priorities that the EU set before Bosnia and Herzegovina are underway.

“I will also advocate the solving of all issues that are important not only for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for the citizens of Republika Srpska and the Federation BiH,” Dodik said.

According to Srna news agency, Dodik told the EU official he would do everything to have the open issues solved as soon as possible but that he is not the one who blocks anything in the country.

Srna also carried Varhelyi as saying that the effort is noticeable and that it should continue this way in order for Bosnia and Herzegovina to get financial support from the European funds.

The talks come three days after Slovenian President Borut Pahor spoke about a possibility of Bosnia getting the candidate status by the end of this week.
