The Bosnian Serb member of BiH’s tripartite Presidency, Milorad Dodik, said his meeting with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, was very successful and constructive, and that Russia is ready to invest and build a gas pipeline and two power plants.

Dodik said that he received certain guarantees that a way would be found for Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity to receive sufficient quantities of gas within the current price.

“This means that it is somewhere between 460-480 dollars, depending on the transport services, in contrast to Europe, which pays from 2,000 to 3,000, and it will probably be much more in the winter”, Dodik said.

He said that Putin was interested in the situation in BiH, and not in the way it is portrayed in Sarajevo and by the West, but that he wants to understand the situation of “his friends”.

“At the end, he said the important thing – that we are friends, that he recognizes us as such and that he will never leave friends behind, no matter what those in the West or in Sarajevo may understand,” he said, arguing that Sarajevo as well benefits from the good relations between the RS and Russia in terms of the price of gas.
