Bosnian Serb Presidency member and Chairman of that tripartite institution, Milorad Dodik, said Saturday that March 1, the country’s Independence Day, will not be celebrated in the country’s Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) and that this cannot be a holiday for this entity.

“The Constitutional Court decides only in the interest of Sarajevo and Bosniaks, nothing in the interest and respect for the Serb positions.” It is worse than 500 years of Turks,” said Dodik in Banja Luka implying that Bosnia’s Constitutional Court is worse for the Serb interests than the 500-year rule of the Ottoman Empire in the region.

He said that the Constitutional Court of BiH can make a decision on that as many times as it wants, but he will not implement it.

“Let them send Prosecutors to me,” Dodik said.

Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrates Independence Day on Monday. It will be 29 years since the citizens decided by a two-thirds majority in a referendum to declare their country independent.

Independence Day is only observed in Bosnia's Bosniak-Croat shared Federation (FBiH) entity.
