The Chairman and Serb member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, Milorad Dodik, was among the signatories of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Declaration on Thursday which says that European and Euro-Atlantic integration “is crucial for the stability and prosperity of the region.”

Dodik, who is also the leader of the ruling party in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, has expressed opposition to Bosnia’s NATO integration, in line with the position of the vast majority of Bosnian Serb political representatives.

He participated in the SEECP summit in Antalya on Thursday, alongside Presidents, Prime Ministers and other top officials of Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Greece, Croatia, Moldova and Montenegro, and they signed a joint declaration.

“Southeast Europe is an inalienable part of the European continent. This region shares the fundamental values and principles of inclusive and sustainable development with the European Union,” it says.

Participants noted the importance of “accelerating convergence with the EU and achieving a higher standard of living in the region.”

“Participants call on the EU to step up the enlargement process for SEECP participants in order to keep the region at European core values. European and Euro-Atlantic integration, based on the current commitments and aspirations of individual SEECP participants, is crucial for the stability and prosperity of the region,” the Declaration says.

“We welcome the continued support that NATO provides to its partners in the region. The participants pay special attention to the free movement of people, supporting the Schengen visa-free regime for the SEE region with the EU,” it says.
