The meeting on the formation of BiH government between the representatives of the “Eight” parties and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) has ended and the SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said on Twitter that they had discussed the formation of the Council of Ministers and other bodies at the BiH level with representatives of the “Eight” after which they decided that the government will definitely be formed. 

“The SNSD with its coalition partners, the ‘Eight’ and the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ), is definitely a structure that will jointly form the government at the BiH level,” Dodik tweeted.

The ‘Eight’ as they are called is a coalition of political parties from the Federation (FBiH) entity joined together in an attempt to oust the Democratic Action Party (SDA) from the government after they were an unavoidable factor for years because of the number of votes they would receive.

He stated that it was agreed that next week the teams they specified would hold meetings in order to start solving issues related to the economy and institutional issues.

Dodik emphasized on Friday that the possible agreement will depend on whether projects important to the Republika Srpska (RS) entity will be unblocked.

“These are the Buk Bijela hydropower plant, Trebinje airport and most certainly the gas pipeline that needs to be adopted. Our final decision will depend on those guarantees that we will receive. If these projects are not unblocked, we will not form the government. Why should we sit there if we can't do anything,” Dodik said Friday.
