Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik announced he would use the mechanism of the vital national interest protection over the appointment of new German ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina because of, as he said, Germany's aspirations to dominate in BiH and jeopardise the interests of the Serb people and Republika Srpska, Bosnia's Serb-majority entity. “If someone does not understand this, then they should not be dealing with politics,” said Dodik, adding that he has never been bluffing in politics and has always exercised a responsible, clear and precise politics.

Dodik also said that this is nothing against Germany as a state but against its policy.

The step comes days after the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina gave agrément to the new German ambassador with Dodik objecting the decision and other two presidency members, Bosniak Sefik Dzaferovic and Croat Zeljko Komsic voting in favour.

Dodik then said he would decide in the next three days if he would use the mechanism of the vital national interest protection, which gives him constitutional right to veto any decision in the Presidency if he proves the national interests of the Serbs are breached and if this is confirmed by the entity parliament of Bosnia's Serb-majority region Republika Srpska.
