Bosnian Serb Presidency member Milorad Dodik sent a letter to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Jansa stating that Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic will attend the EU-Western Balkans Summit which will be held on October 6, in Brdo near Kranj, in Slovenia, on his own behalf, not representing the Presidency.

Stressing the importance of this summit for the future of the region and BiH, as well as the fact that “a platform on which no one in BiH has taken a position will be adopted”, Dodik noted that this is under the direct competence of the BiH Presidency, but that no session was ever scheduled at which all this would be discussed.

Considering that Chairman Zeljko Komsic announced his departure for the Summit “even though the necessary legal conditions provided by the Rules of Procedure of the Presidency of BiH were not implemented”, Dodik concluded that the conditions for his departure were not met.

Addressing Von der Leyen, he noted that he believed “she was poorly advised when only Komsic was invited to the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit.”

“In this way, they (the advisors) placed you directly in the function of destroying BiH and the Dayton Peace Agreement and most of all the Constitution of BiH. This one-sided approach only contributes to the disintegration of BiH and all the actors who support it – only support the country’s disintegration. Unfortunately, we are witnessing a situation when some officials are abusing international forums, events and meetings of various bodies by making inconsistent and unauthorized statements that do not reflect the position of all the relevant actors in BiH,” said Dodik.

Addressing Michel, he said that “the delegation that will attend the EU-Western Balkans summit, allegedly on behalf of BiH, is by no means a BiH delegation approved and authorized by the competent institutions and according to the regulations in force in BiH, at any level.”

The member of the State Presidency reminded Michel that BiH has a complex electoral structure, and at the moment a very complex political situation caused by “unilateral, undemocratic actions of some representatives of the international community”.

In a letter to Jansa, Milorad Dodik pointed out that the situation in BiH is more than complicated, and that the situation is even worse with such cases, when “Komsic does not ask for a decision of the BiH Presidency which is necessary for the participation on behalf of BiH.”
Milorad Dodik also sent letters of the same content to all heads of states of the EU and the countries of the Western Balkans, his Cabinet said.
