Camil Durakovic, Vice President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity, spoke about the resolution on the Srebrenica genocide, which is set to be voted on at the UN General Assembly this month, causing a stir in Republika Srpska and neighboring Serbia.
Commenting on the series of statements that followed the announcement of this document's adoption, Durakovic said it was time for politics to “take a different direction.”
“The resolution will happen when it happens,” he emphasized, adding that the authorities in Bosnia do not decide on it.
He believes that inflammatory statements create a crisis, “over a resolution that isn't so spectacular for either side, to be honest.”
“If someone thinks we will back down from the truth—at least those of us who survived or any reasonable person—they're wrong. And if they aim to create a crisis, they're simply carrying on the same politics that committed those crimes in the early ‘90s.” he added.
Durakovic conveyed a message:
“It's time for everyone to calm down before it's too late.”
