BiH Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss the current international situation, as well as its implications for the situation in the region and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with particular attention paid to the aggression against Ukraine.

The two discussed the contribution of the United Nations when it comes to the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, with a special focus on the upcoming debate at the Security Council on the EUFOR mission.

Chairman Dzaferovic pointed out that it would be good for the Security Council to adopt a resolution on EUFOR, but he reiterated that, if one of the permanent members eventually vetoes it, international military forces have a mandate to be present in BiH, based on the Dayton Agreement and earlier decisions of BiH institutions whose presence is approved without any time limits. The Chairman also met with the Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the international situation and the situation in BiH, where Dzaferovic noted that the United Nations should have a special sensitivity towards the country, considering its special history during the 90s.
