Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama will be on a Balkan tour on Thursday and Friday, during which he will discuss with his colleagues the crisis in Kosovo, the Open Balkans initiative and the Berlin process, according to media in the region.

Beta agency reported that Rama will leave for Skopje on Thursday morning, which will be his first of five stops in the countries of the Western Balkans, within the next two days.

In Skopje, he will meet with his counterpart Dimitar Kovačevski, and then travel to Pristina, where he is expected to meet with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

According to media reports, the meeting with Kurti “will take place at a time when the relations between the two Albanian prime ministers are at their most critical point since Rama sided with the West, asking Kurti to withdraw and create an association of municipalities with a majority Serb population in the north”.

On Friday, the Albanian Prime Minister will travel to Belgrade, where he is supposed to meet with President Aleksandar Vucic.

He will also visit Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to talk with the prime ministers of the two countries about the “importance of stability in the region, threatened by the recent tensions between Serbia and Kosovo.”

Reportedly, Rama recently said that the Open Balkans initiative “completed its mission” and that now the six countries in the region will continue their efforts under one umbrella that brings them all together: the European Union, through the Berlin process, which will have its next meeting in October.
