Eleven people have been arrested in connection with the collapse of a concrete canopy roof at the Novi Sad railway station, said the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad.
The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad said that, after meticulously collecting and analyzing all necessary documentation, conducting extensive interviews with numerous citizens, and reviewing a forensic expert report on the cause and circumstances of the collapse, which was submitted to the prosecution on November 20, 2024, 11 individuals were arrested and detained on November 21, 2024, on the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad.
The Prosecutor's Office said the suspects are suspected of committing criminal offences that could result in prison sentences of two to twelve years.
A concrete canopy roof collapsed at the recently renovated Novi Sad railway station on November 1, killing 15 people and severely injuring two others.
