The Polish Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has outlined the priorities for Poland's Presidency of the European Union in 2025, emphasizing the theme of multidimensional security. This approach will focus on external, internal, informational, energy, economic, food, and health-related security.

In a statement provided to FENA, the Embassy highlighted the pressing challenges facing the EU, including Russia's aggression against Ukraine, increasing geopolitical tensions, and hybrid threats such as disinformation and migration pressure. These challenges, they noted, strike at the very foundations of European democracy and security.

“Resilience to climate phenomena, the need for energy transformation amid growing global competition, and necessary investments will test the Union's capabilities,” the statement emphasized, underscoring the existential nature of security and stability deficits in Europe, which require strategic responses.

The Embassy also stressed the importance of a stable neighbourhood for European safety, pointing to EU enlargement as a geopolitical priority and a key to the Union's development. “Enlargement of the Union by new Member States sharing the Union's values is a condition for its development,” the Embassy stated, reaffirming Poland's commitment to maintaining momentum in the accession process for candidate countries.

Specifically addressing Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU accession progress, the Embassy noted the significant strides made in recent years, including the granting of candidate status and the opening of accession negotiations. “This was a joint effort of both sides,” the Embassy remarked while emphasizing the importance of continued reforms.

“In the coming months, we expect Bosnia and Herzegovina to undertake substantial reforms, such as agreeing on several key laws, which have been under discussion for months. We are ready to move forward the process as soon as Bosnia and Herzegovina delivers on the path of reforms,” the statement concluded.

As Poland prepares to assume the EU Presidency, its focus on security and commitment to EU enlargement signal a strategic vision for strengthening European resilience and fostering integration in the face of ongoing challenges.
