After meeting with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a meeting with political leaders of the three main ethnic groups in Bosnia in order to discuss ways to end the crisis in the country, the Anadolu Agency reported.
On Tuesday, Erdogan and Vucic took part in a meeting of the High Cooperation Council between Turkey and Serbia in Ankara.
One of the topics they discussed was the situation in Bosnia.
“We agreed with the President of Serbia Vucic to gather three leaders – a Bosniak, a Croat and a Serb and to achieve success,” Erdogan said.
He argued that “there is a clear need for joint action by the international community to overcome the crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
Erdogan said that the condition for all parties which would eventually participate in resolving the crisis in BiH should be for them to not undermine the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina in any way.
According to the Beta news agency, Vucic said that stability, peace, dialogue and respect for the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement are of key importance for BiH.
“I told President Erdogan that Serbia respects the integrity of BiH, and we emphasize that it is important to respect the integrity of the Republika Srpska within BiH,” Vucic said, referring to the semi-autonomous Serb-majority entity within the country.
