Inflation in the European Union slowed down slightly in June, following the movement of consumer prices in the euro area, a Eurostat report showed on Wednesday.
The euro area annual inflation rate was 2.5% in June 2024, down from 2.6% in May. A year earlier, the rate was 5.5%. European Union annual inflation was 2.6% in June 2024, down from 2.7% in May. A year earlier, the rate was 6.4%, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
The lowest annual rates were registered in Finland (0.5%), Italy (0.9%) and Lithuania (1.0%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Belgium (5.4%), Romania (5.3%), Spain and Hungary (both 3.6%). Compared with May 2024, annual inflation fell in 17 member states, remained stable in one and rose in nine.
