The European Union donated IT equipment valued at 230,484 Bosnian marks (some €115,000) to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Border Police on Tuesday. This equipment, including computers, laptops, and printers, aims to support officers in their monitoring and regional operational activities.

Representing the EU Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Karel Lizerot, Head of the Operations Section for Justice, Home Affairs, and Public Administration Reform, handed over the donation to Border Police Director Mirko Kupresakovic. Lizerot highlighted that this contribution forms part of the EU's broader security support, which has previously included 64 vehicles and other specialised equipment worth approximately eight million marks (some €4 million) for both the Border Police and the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

“This latest donation reaffirms the EU's dedication to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s security,” Lizerot stated, emphasising the ongoing EU support in building operational capacity through equipment, training, and skill development.

Director Kupresakovic expressed gratitude, noting that the donation will enhance the Unified Information System's functionality, thereby boosting border control efficiency. He acknowledged the EU's consistent support, which includes not only material donations but also funding for officer training, such as the 11th class of Border Police cadets.

The donation is funded under the “Individual Measure for Strengthening Border Management Capacities in Bosnia and Herzegovina” project and the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA). Through these initiatives, the EU continues to bolster Bosnia’s border security and overall capacity to address national and regional challenges.
