European Union extends Luigi Soreca’s mandate as Special Representative in BiH until 2028

According to a statement from Brussels, his mandate has been extended until August 31, 2028, in order to ensure continued EU diplomatic engagement and the effectiveness of the Union’s external action in the country.

The EU Special Representatives promote EU policies and interests in specific regions and countries, as well as issues of particular importance or interest to the EU.

They play an active role in efforts to consolidate reforms, stability and the rule of law. The first EU Special Representative was appointed in 1996.
