Another 50 victims of the July 1995 genocide in Srebrenica will be laid to rest on the 27th anniversary of the massacre this year. On Sunday, family members of the victims quietly said their farewell to their loved ones at the former battery factory in Srebrenica, where the coffins containing the remains have been placed before the funeral on Monday.
One of the green coffins contains the remains and the youngest victim who will be buried this year – Salim Mustafic, who was killed at the age of 16.
Two more minors will be buried this year, Vahid Smajlovic and Elvir Muminovic. Both were 17 at the time of their death.
The oldest victim to be laid to rest is Husejin Krdzic.
Among the victims are also twins Semir and Samir Hasanovic. They were 20 when they were killed. Their remains were discovered in several mass graves in the areas of Liplje and Kamenica.

Nine victims that will be laid to rest this year were exhumed from the mass grave at the site of Dobro Polje near Kalinovik, which was discovered in June 2021.
All the others were exhumed from mass graves that were discovered during the previous years – going back as far as 1997.
The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sefik Dzaferovic, also visited the coffins together with the director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagic.
