Fatal mountain accident on Visocica: Rescuers race to reach second hiker

An extensive operation is currently underway to locate and rescue the second hiker, a friend of the deceased, who remains at the scene of the accident.

Call for help from inaccessible terrain

According to field reports, the surviving hiker successfully managed to alert both the police and GSS. He reported that his friend had fallen and died instantly, and that he was near the body.

Upon receiving the distress call from the Konjic Police Department, GSS Prenj rescuers were immediately dispatched. The operation is also supported by members of GSS Sarajevo and police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

GSS officials emphasized that the terrain they are navigating is extremely difficult and inaccessible. Despite the challenging conditions, rescuers remain in contact with the surviving hiker as they press on toward the tragedy site.
