The last convoy from the Czech Republic entered Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday via the Svilaj border crossing, marking the completion of the arrival of Czech reserve forces to EUFOR’s Butmir base near Sarajevo.

“Czech and Hungarian reserve forces, together with KFOR troops under NATO command in Kosovo, will join EUFOR troops already deployed in the area of operations to take part in Quick Response 2025, our major annual exercise,” EUFOR announced in a statement.

Once all designated units have arrived, an integration exercise will be conducted, followed by the full-scale implementation of Quick Response 2025.

“In addition, the exercise will involve joint training with members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as domestic law enforcement agencies. The goal is to enhance the operational readiness of all participating forces and reaffirm EUFOR’s continued support to its partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and stable environment across the country,” the mission emphasised.

Since 2012, EUFOR has carried out the Quick Response exercise every year, with the exception of 2014. That year, the drills were cancelled due to severe floods across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Instead, deployed troops joined the Armed Forces of BiH in supporting local authorities during the crisis as part of a humanitarian mission named Joint Effort 2014.
