The body of the last missing victim from the devastating floods in Donja Jablanica has been found, according to a statement made by Sabahudin Spahovic from the Federation (FBiH) entity Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) to N1. The victim, a woman, was discovered during cleaning operations in Grabovica Lake and will be laid to rest on Tuesday along with 18 other victims during a collective funeral.
“The body was found near the Grabovica Dam by workers from Elektroprivreda who were cleaning debris. They immediately informed us and the police. We quickly responded, confirmed it was a human body, identified it, and police carried out further procedures. It's a tragic situation, but we are relieved that the final victim has been found and can now be laid to rest,” Spahovic said.
The funeral prayer will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm in the city harem Jasen in Jablanica. Afterwards, the burial will take place in the cemeteries of Donja Jablanica, Djevor, and Zlate. The funeral will be led by Reis Husein ef. Kavazovic and the traditional Tevhid prayer will be recited in the city's mosque after the noon prayer.
With the discovery of the last victim, the total number of people who lost their lives in the catastrophic floods in Jablanica has risen to 19. In nearby Konjic, four people have died, with one person still missing.
Overall, the death toll from the floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina stands at 26, with 19 victims in Jablanica, four in Konjic, and three in Fojnica. The floods also affected Kreševo and Kiseljak, but fortunately, no fatalities were reported in those areas.
As the region mourns its losses, rescue and recovery efforts continue in the hope of finding the remaining missing person in Konjic.
