Firefighters from both entities within BiH are responding to a wildfire on the mountain Jahorina near Sarajevo for several days, the Territorial Fire Department of Istocno Sarajevo, told N1. 

Njegoš Vukadin, a senior member of the Territorial Rescue Unit of Istocno Sarajevo, explained to N1 that the fire crossed the entity line and that it is now on inaccessible terrain at a location riddled with land mines.

“The fire is slowly smouldering, the smoke accumulated. The fire is on the territory of FBiH (the Federation entity) and it is on terrain that has land mines but it does not threaten anyone”, he said.

He said that there was no need to send in helicopters and that this would be too expensive.

The FBiH does not have aerial firefighting equipment, although the previous Government of the FBiH led by Fadil Novalic tasked the FBiH Administration of Civil Protection with procuring it.
