A surging river in the Fojnica settlement of Plocari has completely washed away a local bridge, Sabahudin Klisura confirmed to N1. He stated that teams have been on the ground since the morning due to the sudden rise in water levels of the Daragaca and Zeljeznica rivers.

Klisura reported that while the situation of the Daragaca andZŽeljeznica rivers was continuously monitored and they did not overflow their banks, the two rivers feed into the Fojnica River. Downstream, at the entrance to the Plocari settlement, the water pressure caused a bridge to collapse, resulting in its total destruction.

"We were on the ground since the morning hours. There was a rise in the water level of the Daragaca and Zeljeznica rivers. We monitored the situation, and there was no overflow," Klisura said. He added that where these two rivers flow into the Fojnica, "downstream, at the entrance to Fojnica, in the Plocari local community, the bridge broke, and total damage occurred to the bridge."

The sudden increase in water levels was attributed to a rise in temperature and continuous rain over the past 24 hours, which also led to landslides appearing, though the main road to Dusina remains passable.

Currently, 15 households in the Plocari settlement have been isolated due to the loss of the bridge. "This morning I was on the ground, 15 households are cut off in the Plocari settlement. There is an alternative route, and we will try to make it operational so people can leave the settlement. It is located on a hill and is not exposed to landslides," Klisura explained. Efforts are underway to restore connectivity for the stranded residents.
